What is port forwarding?

Help port forwarding Netgear router?

  • I am trying to get a port forward to work for my Netgear router. It is model wnr2000v2. Before the latest firmware update the port worked fine, now it doesn't. It kept saying that the port was already in use so I restarted everything. Now I don't understand the new port forwarding fields. The fields to fill in are Service Name Service Type External Starting Port (1~65535) External Ending Port (1~65535) Use the same port range for Internal port Internal Starting Port (1~65535) Internal Ending Port Internal IP address . . . Or select from currently attached devices I'm trying to use the Miencraft port, 25565. Please help D:

  • Answer:

Check out this site http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm This is how I did my first port forward. If you select your router and your model number, the guide goes through how to enter and config it. I believe they even have a guide that tells you how to do minecraft specifically too! Hope this helps.
