How do you change the gender on Yahoo Avatars?

I need mine to be a girl! There's a change gender button but whenever I click it, it brings me back to the avatar home screen. What do I do?

Go back to the avatar screen, http://avatars.yahoo.com then click Preferences upper right, click Change Gender. If that don't work, click Delete an avatar. Click Save after your choices. Then go back and choose the gender you want. Your profile on your activity page says you are a female. If you have your profile hidden then it won't show. Lots of others are having this same problem now. If you still can't get it to work right, give it some time and try again. Yahoo has been doing maintenance causing many issues for everyone.
