Why isn't my video card detected by Windows?

The Sims 3 can't detect video card.?

  • I installed the Sims 3 today and this is what it gives me, when I try to launch it: Unable to start game Device 0 cannot run this title. No supported video graphics card detected. Please check your system hardware People in forums told that my video card is too weak, but I've installed and played the Sims 3 with all its additions at least 10 times until now, so it should be strong enough this time too. Can somebody help me figure out what the problem is and give me possible solutions? I really hope I don't have to buy a new card >.< If needed, I'll give you the system requirements. OS: Windows XP SP 2 / Windows Vista Processor: Pentium 4 @ 2 GHz / Athlon XP 2000+ RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB за Vista) Video Memory: 128 MB (GeForce FX 5900 / Radeon 9500) Sound Card: DirectX Compatible DirectX: 9.0c HDD: 7 GB And here's my computer: Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs) DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c 1024MB RAM Card: Nvidia GeForce 6800 XT If you need any other information, I'll provide it.

  • Answer:

Make sure your video card drivers are properly installed. And no, with your current video card, there should be no need to buy a new one, unless it is defective. Try updating your drivers for now.
