How do I fix a corrupted flash drive?

How to fix a corrupted flash drive?

  • it is a 16gb sandisk cruzer. it now thinks it has only 63mb capacity. i can see it in "My Computer" but when i try to open it, it says it needs to be formatted, which fails. it fails when using format in the right click menu in my computer, and it fails when using disk management and, killdisk. it says it has no partition, so there is no option to delete it and i can't create a partition either. there is no "File System" visible in disk management and the command prompt version of check disk says it is RAW. the command prompt of diskpart doesn't even recognize it. i also tried testdisk 6.14 but it didn't recognize the true capacity either and it said if it didn't, that it wouldn't work. it is NOT a drive letter problem. my cousin pulled it out of his xbox 360 right after it said completed when it was being formatted, then it said please reinsert usb device. but nothing happened when it was put back in. the error msg didn't go away and when i put it in the computer this happened. Thanks in advance (^_^)

Other answers

Download the software called Minitool Home partition wizard. Try to format it with that. Also, Did you tried to change the filesystem when you were using windows for formatting i.e. Right click on flash drive and format?
