Answer:
Since you did not create the Windows 7 operating system recovery disc set for the laptop you have two options one is to use the built in system recovery if it can be accessed on the original hard drive to reinstall a new copy of W7 putting it back to factory or you will have to order the Windows 7 recovery disc set made for the laptop from HP customer support to install the original operating system, drivers and utilities for the laptop onto the new hard drive. You could arrange to have it repaired if it is still in the one year factory warranty by contacting HP customer support. Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using HP Recovery, Create a set of operating system recovery discs, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01895783&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=4062&rule=42309&product=4030066&sw_lang= Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00810334&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=4030066 These will reinstall the original operating system and then you use the original Windows product key code to re-register the operating system.
