How do i get my new cd to work on my computer?

  • i've recently have gotten some new cds and i'm trying to get them to work on my computer but when i put them in the drive, my computer just stops trying to read them and acts like there's nothing in there. i've tried them on another computer and they work just fine there. when i put in older cds in my computer, they work but why cant the new cds work on my computer like they do for the other computer? i have a compaq microsoft windows computer

  • Answer:

Look at what your disk/tray player can handle: Start> My Computer> right click the icon for the tray> Properties; in there it will describe what it does; for instance, CD-RoM is "read only" CD's; CD-RW reads and writes CD's; CD-rw/DVD-RoM will read & write CD's, but only read DVD's, and so on. Then read what the disk is. I suspect it's a DVD, and you unit will only play the CD breeds.

Other answers

make sure that the cd is compatable with your cd drive. for example if its a blue ray cd and your cd drive is only compatable with dvd and other types of cds then it wont recognise the disk.

Sometimes the drive itself which reads the CDs cannot physically read the disc so its incompatible
