My facebook badge wont work?

New blackberry & Facebook wont work .. Help ?

  • I bought a blackberry 8520 a few days ago and downloaded the phone app for facebook, but it wont work? It just says "You are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. If you want to use this application, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan". I don't have internet on my contract, I use my wi-fi connection and the facebook app worked on the phone I had just before this one, on the same sim card.. I just don't understand why it wont work on this phone? Anyone know how I can get the wi-fi facebook app on a blackberry? Thanks in advance!

    The FB app requires data and will not work with wi-fi. You can use wi-fi and the browser to go to m.facebook.com. EDIT: Like I said, the FB app requires a BlackBerry data plan. The 8520 isn't an Experia. RIM does things differently. There is no way to make the FB app work on wi-fi only.

I think this might be an OS compatibility issue.Please try re-installing from app world.

Hey, The problem is that you don't have the right data plan but this is really easy to get sorted! Basically, unlike your Sony Ericsson Xperia handset, BlackBerrys need a different data plan to use internet-based apps like Facebook which is why you can't get on it at the moment. All you need to do is ring your network provider and ask for BlackBerry internet services to be added to your package. This way, you'll be able to use Facebook as well as the internet, email and BBM. Bear in mind that it will cost extra but this is the only way to fix the problem.
