Peruvian artist?

Songs are not under my artist in my ipod but under the album artist, how to change?

  • So I just put in a few songs into my ipod and then i filled the info for each song and accidently put the album artist as someone different. Now all of my songs are under the album artist not the actually artist(which is again a mistake on my part). So I just changed all the album artist name to change to the artist. But my ipod still puts it under the artist name only now the entire artist name is under the artist section. For example, instead of my song being under 30 seconds to mars its under jared leto( since i put that under the artist name, and put 30 seconds to mars under the artist) i changed it but now jared let is under the # section of the artist part of the ipod since 30 is a number.

  • Answer:

STEP I For a quick fix (If you have already corrected 'Artist' within the 'Get Info' part of iTunes - otherwise skip to 'STEP III' then do 'STEP II'): 1. In your iTunes, go to where it says 'View' in the upper left hand corner and click on it. A tab will appear. 2. Scroll down and click on 'View Options'. A box should appear. 3. Second down on the left it will say 'Album Artist' with a box to the left of it with a green check in it. Click on this green arrow so that there is nothing in this box. (Personally, I do not use the 'Album Artist' tab because it is always out of view on the computer screen and usually repetitious because the 'Album Artist' and the 'Artist' are almost always the same.) STEP II A few things that might be helpful: 1. Make sure that under your 'View' tab, you have 'as Album List' selected. This usually makes for easier viewing of your tracks/albums. 2. Once you have selected this view, at top right side of your tracks listings it will either say: 'Album By Title' or 'Album By Artist' or 'Album By Artist/Year'. 'Album By Artist' usually makes for easiest viewing. If this is not already in that tab, do the following: -A. Where it says 'Album By Title' or 'Album By Artist/Year', click in the blank part of the bar to the right of those words. This will bring up two arrows (up & down). -B. Click on these arrows. This will open a tab. -C. Scroll down and click on the one that says 'Album By Artist'. 3. Optional: Because 30 Seconds to Mars is a number, if you change the 'alphabetical' order of the artist listings, this will put them at or somewhat near the top. If you would like 30 Seconds To Mars to appear closer to the top of your artist listings: -Next to the column that says 'Artist', click in the blank part of the bar just to the right of where it says 'Artist'. This will make it 'alphabetical' either starting with the A's or any bands that have numbers at the beginning of their name. You can change this back & forth at any time. STEP III Unfortunately, you cannot edit a grouping of songs, artist, album, etc all at once, they have to be done individually - this can make for tedious & time-consuming work. So, to permanently fix the problem and to have it correct within your iTunes, you will have to do the following: 1. Right click on the song to bring up the 'Get Info' tab. 2. When you enter the info: under 'Artist' make sure that it says '30 Seconds To Mars'. Then under 'Album Artist' EITHER change it to '30 Seconds To Mars' (because they are, after all, the artist; which includes not only Jared Leto, but also his brother Shannon Leto and their friend/non-blood brother Tomislav "Tomo" Miličević) or you can just delete Jared Leto's name and leave the space blank. Leaving the 'Album Artist' blank does not usually effect your listings because very rarely (as I stated above) are the 'Album Artist' and the 'Artist' different. 3. Click 'Next' as long as the next song is the one you want to edit. Otherwise you will have to click 'OK' to exit that screen and then scroll down to the next song you want to edit and start again with 'Get Info'. Hope this was helpful. Good luck.
