How did Jay Z build his career?

  • One of my favorite rappers is Jay but I'm trying 2 figure out how he lasted this long. Not from a creative standpoint but from a legal one. Before Jay started his rap career he was a drug dealer, n was probably a low/mid level guy. So when he started his career no one signed him so he started his own label. N starting a label cost some money so I assume he used his drug money 2 fund it. N then of course the rest is history. But wouldn't the money he put into his label be considered money laundering since at the time he was still semi hustling. So I'm trying 2 figure why the IRS hasn't investigated his books or anything and how he got around the legality of his business

    That is curious, however, he wouldn't have gone anywhere if he didn't have his following of blindly loyal worshipers who ultimately paid his way!!..
