What are your views gun control laws?

I was wondering what everyone thought on gun control laws and why I myself is NOT in favor of any strict gun control laws of any kind. I feel the best gun control is through education not legislation. I know there are people who say that laws to keep the bad guys from getting guns. if you look at the states and city that have strict gun law have higher gun crimes. I have never committed any kind of crime and have no intentions to. I like to go hunting shooting at the range and to be able to protect myself and my kids and if it mean lethal force so be it. My bother made a bad choice years ago and did 5 years in prison he told me it is 10 time easier as a felon to get a gun with stricter control laws then me to get gun legal way. Why is that

I support gun control laws. Studies have shown that a homeowner's gun is many times more likely to kill its owner or a family member than a criminal. It should be made more difficult for people to obtain firearms. That would also help get guns out of the hands of criminals. It's one thing if you're military, law enforcement, or a hunter. How many people have to die to show that too many people are abusing firearms?

i'm OK with anybody having a gun as long as you are responsible for any deaths by your gun. You let someone else have access to your gun and they kill someone with it, that's on you. Leave it out in the open and somebody steals and kills with it, that's on you.

I have no problem with open gun laws. I have a problem with the crackhead and crazy guy down the street thinking i'm a "threat" driving down the road and opening up on me. Basically I have a problem with human nature.

Far too many restrictive laws on the books. I could agree with some gun control laws ... but states like NY go way too far! Pistol permits - administered properly, not a bad thing! All states should be "shall issue" and permits issued in any state should be valid in all. Registration of firearms - as long as the government can not make any firearm illegal to own and there are protections for law abiding citizens. Not great, but I could even agree with that [PROBLEM: The government is known to ignore any regulation that they find inconvenient any time they decide to. Would there be a way to craft a law that the government would fully comply with?] Prohibiting certain groups of people from owning firearms - The groups of people should be clearly defined. People diagnosed with a mental disease, defect or impairment that would make them a danger to themselves or others should be prohibited from owning firearms, until they are pronounced cured of that condition by a doctor. For those convicted of crimes. The court should be able to impose (as part of the sentence for the crime) prohibited to own firearms for the duration of the sentence. The person convicted of a crime would be able to appeal that part of the sentence, and the firearms ownership prohibition would expire at the end of the convict's parole or probation (if the court decided it was necessary to relieve the convict of the right to keep and bear arms for life ... they would have to sentence the convict to "full life" parole or probation. The government should not be able to take any of the rights as recognized by the Bill of Rights away from citizens lightly. It should be difficult to do so, and only done where there is good cause.

My feelings on this is we have the right to own guns according to the Constitution it is a shame that some want to get rid of that right. What bothers me is that they do not go after the guns used by criminals, I have a friend that used to be on the job in NY and he used to tell me when he brought in a mutt that used a gun the DA would throw it out and in NY it is mandatory 3 years. We have since moved from that sewer. So they would rather screw me then the criminal. And if they want to do something use the ones on the books now.
