Is it still too late to apply for CSU?

City College/UC or CSU?

  • I am a senior in high school, and i was recently accepted into CSULB. However, I have always wanted to go to a UC, and the only way i could get into one now, would be to go to a Community College and then try to transfer later. I am not sure, about this option, due to i don't know what the best route is today when going to college, with the tuition rises and the overcrowding of city colleges and CSU's . My question is, would it be better for me to just go to CSULB from the get go, or would it be better for me to go to a local community college (LBCC or Cerritos College), and then have the oppurtunity to transfer to a UC afterwards (UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Riverside to be specific)? And also, say if i wasn't accepted into a UC out of community college, i could still apply to a CSU, and save alot of money i hear, since you are doing the same thing (completing you General ED Classes) the first few years of college anyway. Please answer, if you can. thanks!

    right now im finishing up santa monica college and im going to start ucla in fall. i really recommend community college. but if u want to go to a uc u should go to santa monica college because they are number one in transfers. but even if you dont go there it stil better to go to cc first. its so easy to get into csulb from any cc so u'll save a lot of money an wont be risking anything

It depends on your financial standing. If you can't afford it, your only option would be to go to a community college your first two years then to transfer. If you can, then you have the other option but in the end it's your choice. People can give you help or advice but in the end you have to make the decision.
