How do I get copy of 2011 w2 and 1040?

  • So for some reason, even though my financial aid is based off my mom's income, my school still needs my 2011 taxes for some reason, but I no longer have the papers. How do I get a copy of the w2 and 1040 that I filed for my 2011 income? I have a month =)

your EFC and financial aid is based off YOUR income first and formost. LOL For dependent students, yes they look at the parents income secondly so YES they will need your parents income as well. As others have mentioned, you are required to keep copies of your tax records for 7 years. To get copies of your W2's, you will need to call all the people/companies you worked for in 2011. To get a copy of your 2011 income tax return, you go to the tax prep person you went to or start digging and find where you kept those important papers. A month? HA! you aint gonna make it! If you can't keep track of important tax documents, you aren't going to have the gumption to follow through with this process and actually have it completed in time to start school in the fall.

you can try getting copies of it from the place where your mom files her taxes.
