How long does it take to learn a back handspring?

How long do you think it will take me to learn how to do a back handspring?

• Im 17 and hoping to tryout for cheerleading in a little over 3 and a half months. Im 5'3 110lbs and am rather flexible. I can do cartwheels, round offs, one handed cartwheels, back walk overs, and a front walk over. Im going to be taking a private tumbling class that is 30 minutes long, probably once or twice a week as needed, i pay for each class separately. I tend to pick things up quickly and was wondering how long would learning how to do a standing back handspring/round off back handspring take. Also, if i pick that up in an efficient amount of time, what else could i learn in the coming 3+ months? Thanks! :)

  You could probably get it in a month with private lessons every week. Start off doing them on a downward sloping mat with a spot until your spotter is barely helping you. When they think you can do it by yourself they will help you less and less. When you get to that point doing it by yourself on a soft mat then work your way down to a spring floor. Start with the basic back-handspring. Once you get that then learn your round-off back-handspring and go from there with connecting back-handsprings. good luck!!
