What does the editor-in-chief do for a school newspaper?

Starting an underground newspaper at my High School?

• I'm a sophomore in high-school and I would really like to start an underground newspaper, the school sponsored newspaper is so incredibly boring, if you want to write for them you have to have like a 3.5 gpa and be a goody goody stick up your *** student because our school paper is nationally recognized. I've never read a single edgy article in our paper, the topics are always completely unoriginal, every year it's the same thing over and over again, the main writers lack any sort of writing style or voice, when they attempt humor it always comes off stale and like they are trying to hard. Anyway that's my rant, the question is where do I start? How would I go about printing the first edition? I already have some people in mind who can write for it. Anyone have any good names for the newspaper? Also what kind of opposition should I expect from the school? What kind of laws are in place that protect me? I know I can't do anything during the school day but I can distribute it before or after school hours. I want to write about music, politics, school issues not being addressed, sex, drugs rock and roll, art, I plan on writing a few articles tearing apart certain school officials. Anyway yeah any advice would be great.

  "I've never read a single edgy article" but you yourself can't even come up with a name. Sit down, shut up and listen to your teachers. They know more than you do, That is something you could do something about but as long as your mouth is open, learning is impossible.
