Red bumps on my tonsils?

What do white patches or bumps on your tonsils after getting sick mean?

• I just got over a really bad cold, with a slight fever and everything. It only lasted a day or two at most, but the day it ended completely i felt like i had something in the back of my throat and when I looked I saw that i had a white bump on my tonsil and that my tonsil was a bit swollen. It didnt hurt until later that night but the pain was only a bit bothering. Well two days later and more white bumps have come up on my right tonsil and i wake up with my throat hurting on the right side. as the day goes on the pain fades but now the white bumps or patches are starting to form on the left side of my tonsil as well. This morning when I woke up with my sore throat it hurt when I swallowed and it made my ear hurt as well. so far the pain is only on my right side but like i said there are two bumps on my left tonsil now as well, just no pain. Did this happen because I was sick with a fever, or is this something else? I had this once before I believe, years go, but it was only white patches on my tonsils when I was sick and I think it was due to a fever or something. I do not remember exactly. Well can anyone tell what this is, because I know it can also be strep throat or tonsillitis. I am going to make an appointment for the doctors to get checked I just want to know some more information about what it could be. Thank you!

  It's most likely strep. Usually white spots or patches on the back of your throat is a key indicator of it. Its pretty common with me so I know the symptoms: Fever (varies on severity of the strep) sore throat and sometimes a few cold like symptoms.
