Should I take a student loan?

When should I take out a student loan?

  • When should I go to the bank for a student loan? I got accepted at UA and I’m attending the fall semester but I don't know how much exactly this school year will cost me, I've asked and they said that my bill for the total cost will be coming in June, but isn’t June a little too late to go ask for a loan from a bank ? I’ve already been awarded my financial aid for year. I start school in September. I’m asking because I don’t want to take out a student loan that’s either too small of an amount for this year or either too large of an amount. I'm trying to take out a loan with USAA and they work with Wells Fargo.

  • Answer:

I'm actually encountering the same problem. My counselor suggested not to act until all of your FAFSA and other things are figured into your bill, then you figure out how much to take out based on your credit hours, not based upon your suggested bill. Make sure you get the right amount out, but it's ALWAYS better to have too much, rather than not enough! Hope I helped :)
