How many years of college do you need to become a teacher?

I'm in high school right now and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do after I graduate. I plan on being an elementary school teacher but I have no idea how to get there. How many years of college does it require and which colleges would be the best for becoming a teacher? Also, is there anything right now that will help me in preparing for college and teaching. Is there any classes that I can take in high school? Please, I am grateful for any help right now.

In the US,you need a four year bachelor degree. Check out state school in the state you live.
