Math placement and pursuing engineering.

What Math course should I choose?

  • I took a placement test & I could choose from Math 105, Math 118, Business Math 120, Math 121 & Math 130. ( On a side note, I have to choose from one of these, then I'm moving into Calc 1 my second semester). I just wanted to know what Math would be appropriate to get ready for Calc 1. Like which is more harder to say the least. Also my major is Mechanical Engineering. & yes, I know I should've scored higher, but you know :3

  • Answer:

These numbers are meaningless outside of your school system; we need a course description (or at least title) to answer your question. You want to take a pre-calculus/trigonometry class to best prepare you for calculus.

Tell us the exact name of the course for each of the math classes you can take because those course numbers are specific to your college and we won't know what college you go to. But classes you can take are College Algebra (I think that's what most freshman take), Trigonometry, Statistics or Pre-Calculus.
