What career path to go?

I am unsure what major/ career path i should go into?

  • i want to do something that branches off art. i looove art! i love to painting, sketching and colleaguing. i love doing photography and photoshop and editing photos. i love decorating(my room, my house, etc.) i am friendly and like staying busy, but not overwhelmed. i like clothes and fashion but don't think i could come up with NEW ideas so i don't think fashion design is the right path for me if i am passionate about something, i plan it, but with most things, i just go with the flow and don't plan someone please help me, i am going to be a junior in high school soon and so i want to start deciding now

    What's great about fashion and art is you don't have to be a fashion designer in order to work in the fashion industry. You sound like a very creative person and working in the fashion industry may be a perfect fit for you. Have you've looked into the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising? They have so many programs in fashion it's crazy! My friend majored in beauty industry merchandising and marketing and now works for Tarte but they have merchandise product development, apparel industry management, just to name a few. If you love photoshop and editing photos (like you stated in your question) then FIDM also has a great graphic design program that focuses on the fashion and entertainment industries! To help you make a decision, the school has a great career quiz on their website that may help you in narrowing your interests into a specific program. Their FB page and twitter also has great info. If you want to check out their website and talk to an advisor that may be your best option. Good luck!

Think about graphic design, interior design, arts specialist, curator, or anything in the creative field. Just remember when you're studying something, you're learning about how to work in that profession, so you don't already need to have the skills, that's why you'll be doing the course. So maybe fashion design could be an option, maybe not. You could also think about becoming an editor (think magazines of all sorts). The world is your oyster :)

Teacher of the arts, work for a company involving brand imaging or something like that, interior designer, fashion designer, event/party planner. Do the event planner or better yet the interior designer as it will get u the most pay

Don't worry about it yet. Go and study art in general and in time you will find your way. Don't be surprised if you change your mind a number of times in the next 6 years, it's normal. Eventually you'll find what you really love.
