Applying for summer job?

If I'm applying for july/summer job now, do I have a chance of getting one?

  • I'm 16, and I'm applying to Subway, Marshalls, Safeway, CVS, Dunkin Donuts, maybe Starbucks. I don't have any experience and not a ton of references, so I'm aiming for jobs that don't require a ton, hopefully. I'm very nervous about getting one, am I still able to get a job now? And when I go in to turn in my application, should I ask to speak to the manager about it or should I just turn it in to an employee or something, tell them I'm applying? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Make sure to make a resume with all of your past club, sport, and community service work to make up for no job experience. If there's an over the net type application fill it out, print it, and bring it to the store with your resume. Call the store a week after you've turned it in to check the status, but not everyday because that will only annoy them. When you go to turn it in, ask to speak to a manager and make sure he/she gets your paperwork. Shake his/her hand and be wearing something professional but not over the top (no suits, but no short shorts either). Good luck :)
