What is a better career choice (health career)?

• I am studying at U of T, and next year I will be graduating with a BSc in human biology and neuroscience. I live in Ontario, Canada. I do not mind moving for my work, but I am also interested in staying within Ontario. I am getting very stressed because I am graduating next year and I cannot decide which graduate program to apply to. Right now, my two top choices are Speech Language Pathology or Vetenirary medicine. I have a passion for working with children (pro for SLP), plus im a huge animal lover. I want to be in a career that will be in demand, and offer a competitive salary as well. Can anyone give me some advice/knowledge about the careers and their salary/job outlooks? Which would you recommend?! I know its a silly question, but any advice will help me! As well, What is veterinary school like? Is it as intense as medical school? I originally wanted to be a doctor, but after several years of studying at U of T and thinking about the huge sacrifice that the long process of medical school would be, I decided I would like to be in something that is not as demanding (both in graduate school and the career itself) and will allow me to have a family as well. Any other health related fields you could recommend? Thanks!

  Schooling for becoming a vet and a doctor are about the same. Both are 4 year post-grade degrees. Vets can also choose to do residencies. The big difference is that a doc HAS to do a residency and yes, this is a lot of work. I'm not sure where you are getting that you can't have a family as a doc. Most of the female docs I know have kids, husbands, pets, and lives. Anyway, if you have a passion for working with kids, then look into speech pathology. Vet school is very very difficult to get into and very competitive once you are there. It's also incredibly stressful if you are an animal lover - you see the absolute worst of people and there's nothing you can do about it.
