Are there any 9-5 jobs out there that would be particularly righ for someone with cartooning skills and a BFA?

It really seems like there aren't any, but I'm wondering if anyone here has some info I am unaware of. So, if you can respond politely with actually helpful info, it would be greatly appreciated (sorry, I know there are a lot of wiseguys here who will just tell me to work at McDonald's or whatever, but I know about those options already). I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2D studio art (I know, pretty useless it seems), and primarily, I am a cartoonist (I have a webcomic I'm trying to get going) and a digital Illustrator (I use a combo of traditional media and Photoshop). I graduated over 10 years ago, but I have yet to find a "real job". I just recently relocated to Austin. Doesn't seem like the best place for what I do, really, but I need some sort of day job that can actually pay the bills with some left over to furnish a place and/or buy food. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any sorts of full-time jobs that would actually be seeking someone with skills like mine, without experience other than freelancing and a tiny bit of sign shop graphic design (not really enough to where I can compete with true graphic designers these days). If there are certain places in the U.S. where I would have better luck, I'd be interested in hearing about that too, though I really don't have the means to relocate right now.

Answer:
I can only think of one are of work where those skills equate to a 9 to 5 job and that industry is slowly dying. Print media. I have a friend who recently retired from AT&T as an artist, he did a lot of work for their phone books. Myself, I worked for a newspaper years ago that needed artwork for their ads and had to rely on a lot of clip-art when their artists couldn't get to the new work. I grew up near Austin but I'm in Cleveland, OH now. Around here I've seen quite a few artist open their own studio where they can teach, rent studio time/space and complete their own projects. It takes time but these guys have become pretty established and it's looking good for them. Maybe in the future that's the direction you'll want to go. From a fellow artist....good luck!
