What is a climbing block?

I ordered some climbing chalk and instead in coming in a chalk ball it came in a solid block. what do i do.?

  If you want a "chalk ball" experience, then you can get a refillable chalk ball. In a ziplock back place the block, press out the air and seal. Then break up the block in the ziplock bag being careful to not tear the bag or break the seal. Once it is broken up, slowly and carefully pour how much chalk you want into the refillable chalk ball. Tighten down the draw strings and place in chalk bag. In a pinch, you can subsitute a lady's nylon stocking for the refillable bag, tie it off with a knot and use that as your chalk ball. Many indoor climbing gyms require a ball of some sort. I've known places that have kicked climbers out for using loose chalk. Other places may confiscate it until you are ready to leave. If your gym doesn't have the chalk ball restriction, then breaking it up directly in your chalk bag is fine. -Good luck
