Why does my live keep disconnecting?

Why do I keep disconnecting and reconnecting to xbox live randomly?

For some reason, starting 3 days ago (when I purchased battlefield), I started disconnecting from games all the time for no reason. It was totally random. At first i thought it was EA's shitty servers i had kept hearing about, but then i moved to call of duty, playing zombies. It started doing the same things. I disconnect from the game and i also disconnect from parties only to reconnect a second later. It's preventing me from playing any games or even having a conversation on Xbox live without being disconnected. I don't understand, I'm wired straight to my router, i have a ping of 18 (wtf?), download speed of 40.15mbps and an upload speed of 5.03mbps. I have a good connection overall so why do i keep disconnecting? I started to think it was because i had 3 iPods 2 laptops and and Xbox all connected to the router, but then i realized i had been running this way for 2 years with no problems until now. I really am at a lose and have no clue what to do, if anyone has any tips or suggestions I'm totally open because now i have nothing to fill my time at home in the summer. Thank you.
