Is there ever going to be a Nintendo system after the Wii?

Any Nintendo fans out there who are ACTUALLY going to get the Wii U?

  • Seriously, its like everytime Nintendo comes out with something new, its gets bashed in the face for it not being edgy enough, being to childish, not to par with Sony or Microsoft (which I love) and blah blah blah. Just wait, the same way people said the wii was retarded, is the same way people might react to mr. Wii U and then see how good of a system it is. Graphics. Lookin good! And this Im hearing about it being on par with the PS3? So what! Good for them! Be satisfied that Nintendo listend to the fans and are now focusing on core gamers more now. The Wii U may not look perfect, but it definatly fixes the issues the Wii had. Super Smash Bros 4. Nmeed I say more? lol, what are your opinions people?

  • Answer:

Of course I am. I have been waiting for this system ever since it was announced. I have also read practically every article about it, even the bad ones. And I don't care about what a bunch if imbeciles have to say about, I am still getting it, no matter what!

I'm a big Nintendo fan too and I'd definitely consider buying the Wii-U, but I'd like to see more first party titles in their launch line-up... The only upcoming games for the Wii-U that I keep hearing about is stuff like Batman: Arkham City or Aliens Colonial Marines or Assassin's Creed. If I wanted to play stuff like that, I'd buy a PS3 or a 360. The reason I play Nintendo is because imo they have the best first party franchises. I know they're developing a new Super Smash Bros game, but they need to have more Nintendo representation in their launch line-up... I know they probably won't release another Zelda game soon since Skyward Sword just came out last year, but how about a new Metroid, a new Mario Kart, a new Donkey Kong Country, a new Kid Icarus (I know they just released Uprising for the 3DS, but isn't it about time Pit finally got a new home console game after all these years?) It's good that Nintendo is getting a lot of third party support at last, and will finally release games that appeal to "hardcore gamers", but hopefully they don't start neglecting all of the Nintendo fans out there who still enjoy Mario and Zelda and all the other awesome video game series that Nintendo has created over the years.

Not everyone is into hard core gaming.... So almost all the casual gamer would go for it!

Before I go expressing my opinion, let me say I love Nintendo for the company it is. However, what is the Wii U really going to do? It still can't play back DVDs or CDs, is really nothing but an oversized DS, will definitely not have graphics on par with PS3, and will have the same crappy developer SDK the Wii has. My opinion is that the Wii U is going to be the final straw from Nintendo and they're going to continue to lose money every business quarter until they actually decide to actually compete against Sony and Microsoft instead of playing around with their handhelds; most people don't want to move around in order to play a game, so until they get rid of their motion controller they're going to remain in last place in the console arena. EDIT: I don't think Nintendo needs to focus on games; they already have established franchises that people love. They need to get their hardware right before anything else since that is what is causing them to lose money at the moment. That's just my opinion and argument though, so I'm not trying to say you're wrong or anything, because focusing on their games is also a critical component. I personally dropped Nintendo after the Wii came out; I still own my Wii, but I don't hardly ever turn it on since my Xbox does the same things plus more. My Wii only gets turned on for Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy; past that, I still rock the N64 and Gamecube for Mario Party, Super Smash, and Super Mario games (like Super Mario Sunshine...amazing game right there; not as fun as Pikmin sometimes, but still loads of fun). I haven't touched Zelda in years either, so I haven't followed much of it since Twilight Princess, which I have yet to finish in all honestly for some reason. While your statement is true, looking at how things have been going for Nintendo the past several years makes it seems like they're on a downward spiral that is going to be very hard to come out of until they actually compete again.

I'm not sure where this perceived "downward spiral" comes from, Nintendo have just posted their first loss in decades! An "anonymous" source has been quoted as saying the Wii U isn't as powerful as the 360 or PS3 but *named* sources state otherwise, that the Wii is approximately 15-20% more powerful than the current consoles (not huge but it's still there). The fact is, it has an IBM Power7 processor and a fairly decent GFX processor, they'd have to cripple the hardware to make it less powerful than the current gen! Plus, it's DirectX 10.1 compatible, something current consoles aren't. That's not to say it's "next gen" though. Sure, that controller is fancy but I suspect the next Sony and Microsoft consoles will pack much more horsepower... You wont hear me complaining though, I'll be a Wii U owner from day one :D
