Netflix Streaming still possible with weak wireless signal? what's the minimum speed?

Streaming Netflix in a college dorm?

• I'm going off to college in the fall and I plan to live on campus in the dorms. The internet set up is pretty nice, we just have to use an ethernet cable to connect electronics and we can have internet in each of our rooms (it is apartment-style.) A concern for me is that the internet will be shared. Currently I share internet with my family, and I use it mostly for streaming movies and tv shows from Netflix, which sometimes bogs down even our high speed connection. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with streaming in dorms? Will I be able to do it pretty safely, or will it really make the connection too slow for everyone else?

  Any university with a half-awake IT staff should have some kind of QoS set up so that one user can't use all the bandwidth. Feel free to stream all you want.
