Is it wrong to judge someone by their tattoos?
-
They say dont judge a book by its cover. If someone has a skull tattoo on their face and tear tattoos coming from their eyes am I wrong to not want to employ them? If someone has love and hate tattoo'd on their knuckles and a swastica on their arm is it wrong of me to avoid them on the street?

Answer:
No, it's not wrong. It's not the same as judging someone by scars or burns or any other bit of their appearance, but tattoos are personal. You don't get one unless you want one, so it's a personal choice. You are not wrong to not want to hire someone who cares so little about themselves that they tattoo a skull over their face. That just shows they are prone to bad judgement.

Your own personal beliefs aren't wrong because they're your own beliefs and as long as you keep them to yourself, there isn't a problem. In terms of employment you may have your own reservations but unless you can find any concrete reason for not employing an individual (maybe through a background check or drug test) then it is wrong of you not to employ that individual. There are exceptions to this of course. If the job you're hiring a person for is based on a certain appearance that this particular person isn't meeting then it isn't wrong (i.e. have you ever seen a fat model at Abercrombie?). To answer your question about encountering a person like this on the street, then I guess I would say the concept of avoiding a person you feel uncomfortable being around isn't wrong. However, if you make it blatantly obvious and/or verbally or physically try to harm that person then not only is that wrong but it's unconstitutional. It all comes down to the maturity with which you handle the situation. Having your own views is right. Infringing on the basic rights of others because of those views is wrong. Hope I helped.

Personally, I'm not a fan out tattoos. I was always afraid or looking down on people with tattoos. That, though, is close-minded. I have a friend who has tattoos and they are nothing what I expected them to be, the stereotypes. I think everything has a story, even tattoos. My friend told me the tattoos on him all meant something meaningful that would stay with him forever. Tattoos that are intimidating could be exactly what the person wanted it to be but with a story behind it. I wouldn't judge on something I don't know for sure when I am employing. However, if he does show signs of what you expected (bad) then you have a right to fire him or her. Now if it is hate tattoos like swastika... I don't think for any excuse you should have that tattoo.. It is offensive and it bring memories that many would like to move on from or forget. Avoid people with tattoos that have an attitude..

No. But its wrong to condemn. Everyone judges its a self defense mechanism. For example I might come to the judgement that you will hiss at me as I pass you down the street because I'm tan only to probably stand in shock as you offer me a high five and mega-watt smile. Plus most guys tend to look SEXY with tattoos ;)

Face tattoos are worn by mentally disturbed people. If you do not avoid a Nazi lover with love and hate on their knuckles you are way too trusting.

You shouldn't judge someone by their tattoos. Look at this picture ----> http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=50h4zq&s=6 I'm sure people think things in their head when they might pass him in public, but what they don't know is he is a doctor who for all they know could save their life one day. It's never right to judge someone by their looks.

I say think of tattoos as a t-shirt when it comes to employment. If their t-shirt says something offensive to customers or other employees on it, you should make your employee take it off or fire them, if it's something that doesn't bother anybody then I see no point in making a fuss about it.

Through a tattoo you are telling the world something about yourself. Yes, If I see Johnny Badazz walking down the street with love/hate and a swastika--He's telling me he's a skinhead. I don't have any use for skinheads. On the other hand if I see Johnny Nice walking down the street covered in puppy tattoos, I"m going to assume he's into puppies and someone I would like.

You can never tell who a person is, just by looking at their tattoos. Yes, I would say it is wrong. For the employing question, it depends on what kind of a job it is and as for avoiding them on the street, yes it wrong. After all, we're all human

It depends on the occasion. You would know when or when not to judge someone due to human intuition.
