Would it make a difference to Google's Pagerank algorithm if a DOFOLLOW backlink is on a footer or not?
-
1. If i have a backlink to my website on a PR 8 site on the footer as compared to on ONLY one of the thousands of page of the site, would it make a difference to my Pagerank? Essentially I would like to know if I should be getting a backlink on the footer or just one of the pages in that site will do since there is a huge difference in cost. 2. Also, how long would it take for the Pagerank score to be assigned to my site? I already have one PR5 site backlinking 2-4 pages worth to my site already so I should be getting a PR5, but I am still on PR0. I have confirmed the link was a DOFOLLOW. Please I need unbias advise here. No self promotion here.

Answer:
Footer links are treated same as the contextual back links if they are Do Follow. The only loss you will have with Footer link is that you won't receive traffic from that website. Also I would like to tell you that it will also help your website's internal pages to gain some positive impact but not as much as Home Page will receive.

1) Generally, the higher up a page the link is, the more important it will be seen as. However, also pay attention to the number of other links - ideally you want to be the only external one! 2) PageRank is calculated very infrequently now, and should not be used much for SEO calculations. If the link has true value you will see the effects in a few days. 3) Pagerank is generally for the domain. A real link profile will come in to all the various pages. Hundreds of identical links to just the home page may look suspicious. 4) Sort of. PageRank is for the domain. Individual pages have their own scoring via the Google super secret algorithm, and the will get an increase since they should be linked to from the home page. Top Tip: I've seen pages with PageRank1 or 2 ranking first in google for a term they were relevant for. don't get hung up on monitoring pagerank. Monitor average position for the selected keywords for a variety of pages, and natural search traffic. TopTip 2: Sounds like you are buying this link. Google is continually making changes to remove the effectiveness of purchased links, so this strategy may work in the short term but is not likely to be viable long term.
