How should I prepare for the AP Chemistry Exam?

Should I take the AP Chemistry exam?

  • The AP Chemistry exam is on Monday, the 7th, and I feel extremely ill-prepared for it. The class I am in right now is composed of 13 or 14 kids and in the beginning of the year we were offered the opportunity to take a dual-credit course and get 8 credits by also enrolling in a SUPA chem course. Naturally I took the chance and got a 4.0 in the first semester and am aiming for a 4.0 in the 2nd semester as well, ensuring the 8 credits. I don't believe that I will get above a 3 if I'm lucky, and this week is piled high with extra stress activities (Tennis team is going to states, SAT on saturday, tests this week in my classes, organizing a presentation for the school's BOE, and also the APUSH AP test and the AP comp ap test) Any thoughts on this would be great. -- 2-3 other kids said they won't be taking the AP exam as well -- Would any competitive colleges ask me for the AP scores, and would they understand for my reasoning if I chose not to take it? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Technically, you did not take an AP class if you do not take the AP Exam at the end of the class. However, if you are receiving college credit from a college level course, whether or not you took an AP course is not relevant. It really doesn't matter what your score on the test is if you get college credit through another college program.
