Is any1 on here a paramedic or doctor?

Possible to get a bachelors in biology while learning to become a paramedic?

  • I am 18 about to enter college this next coming fall semester and hope to one day go to medical school after I finish my bachelors degree in biology. I was hoping that for my first two years I could take some classes to become a paramedic because that is how I wanted to start off my medical career and make my way to becoming a doctor. Now would I have enough time to take all the required classes for my biology major and take class for a paramedic license? Would it be possible or is it one or the other? Would taking paramedic classes get in the way of my schooling? Keep in mind paramedic work is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.

  • Answer:

i know there are some univiersities that offer a degree program in EMS and that might help you accomplish your goals. George Washington U. in Washington DC has one and you get paramedic training too, so I am sure there are other programs out there.

Is it really worth the risk of messing up your GPA and screwing your chances to get into med school? But the good news is that you are in TX where it only takes about 600 hours to be a Paramedic if you have the EMT. There are a couple of schools which offer the Paramedic in 3 months. You can also take it online through a couple of schools in TX and then work the clinicals on your own time. http://percomonline.com/ http://www.trainingdivision.com/
