What Should I Do About a Scab?

Small lump under scab on Ankle, what is it?

  • I hit myself with the car door by accident on the back of the ankle, it just bled for a bit and scabbed over like things like that always do, but I noticed a hard lump underneath the scab. Its been there for around 4 days now, the scab it pretty much non-existent, but the lump is still there. The lump is not a small round one, its a elongated one across the back of my ankle if you get what I mean. Bear in mind I hit it pretty hard, so Im guessing its just damage under the skin, and will heal itself in time. I haven't been to my doctor or anything, as I think its benign as most of the things I think are bad are. Anyone know for sure what it is?

  • Answer:

I won't be able to tell for sure what it is without seeing it. Also this information is kinda vague. Does it hurt to walk? Is there some redness? It is common for people to have some sort of blister type thing that has partially scabbed. It is also not uncommon for someone to have some swelling with a scab on top. Through the scab is gone the swelling remains indicating that there is something still healing. Again I am not sure without seeing pictures.
