Heavy Backpack making shoulders ache?

Arm pain.. back wing/arm ache.. doctor didn't take me seioruly.- LONG PLZZ HELP?

  • In Oct 2010 - I was about to go to the hoecoming football game with my two best friends. Me and my mom got in a physical fight in front of them when we stopped at my house. And I fell down directly on my back/ left arm shoulder angle. And I was dragged to the room basically. On the flood. We threw our arms around and I think I might have pulled something. I went to the doctors a few months ago. She said I was fine - ( I was trying to get a doctors note for not swimming in P.E. Because of the strenuous activities) and I didn't tell the doctor that I fell on it. I said I couldn't remember and that I might have fell in dance or something. Mydoctor then said, "You would remember, because it wouldve hurt" And I do remember. I just didn't want to tell the story. I feel guilty about it all even happening in the first place. I live with my aunt now. My mom is beating cancer. But we don't have 30 bux for a doc. Appt. My aunt doesn't pay for things like that for me. My arm constantly hurts. When I rotate, it shakes and hurts really bad. I don't know what to do. Its also making my shoulder's hurt. My doctor did say pain in that area was conncected to something with a r.. She gave me steps in stretching it against a wall. But it hurts too much. And she didn't even know I really hurt it. At the time, she asked me if my shoulders hurt in the front and I said no. Because they didn't at the time. And now they really do. I can't sleep rite now because it hurts so badly. I might take a pain pill. Sorry this is so long and I'm rambling. I'm really tired. But I don't want to lay on either side of my arms because every position on the sides- make something ache.. Lol Thanks sooo much for reading. Please if you know what's wrong with my arm or have a slight idea. Let me know. Its been 2 years and it still hurts.- I also waited a while to go to my doc. About P.E. Because I always assumed it would go away and I dealt with it.

  • Answer:

If you care about your shoulder, you will tell a doctor what really happened. If you want to continue to be in pain, lie again. Simple as that.

You need to tell the doctor that you did fall, you don't have to tell her anything else. She can only help you if you help her understand. This could lead to long-term damage if you don't get it checked out. Did she mention your Rotator Cuff, that is a very common shoulder injury. Your Doc needs to check if there is a tear of other injury to it. Doctors are not psychic, if you with hold information then they can only make a guess.

It's not that your doctor didn't take you seriously - it's that you didn't give the doctor the necessary information they needed to properly assess you. If you want to have your shoulder looked at, and treated, you're going to have to tell a doctor what happened to you. You have to admit that you got hurt in a physical altercation 2 years ago, and have been having pain and range of motion issues ever since. From the sounds of it, you're still in school, and are probably a minor. You may qualify for government-funded health care service - make an appointment at your local social services/welfare office to speak with someone there, and see what help you might get.
