  • Answer:

Of course your body is going to react to trauma like that - Some swelling and redness is totally normal. Just keep it clean with soap and warm water and/or saline solution (salt water) and you should be fine. Above all, keep your germy hands off it to prevent infection :)

If your ear starts to bleed after a stretch, then that means you tore it. If you tear your ear, you should really go back to the old size and let it heal. You really should be skipping sizes either. You should go back to the 14g and when it's healed (like maybe in about 3 months) you should try stretching to a 12g instead of 10g. If it's not bleeding a lot, you might be able to get away with not downsizing, but you really need to baby it until it heals. You should always wait at least a few weeks (if not a few months) between stretches, even if your ear doesn't tear. Make sure your jewelry is properly lubricated with KY, mild liquid soap, or vitamin E oil before inserting it. It's also a lot easier to stretch either during a warm shower or directly after while the skin is still pliable. Always stop if you have to force it, or if it starts to hurt...it means your ear isn't ready. And again, try not to skip any sizes between, especially when you get to the single digits (like 8g). Good luck.
