What did this new hire at my job mean when she asked me "You sure don't say a lot, do you?" out of the blue?

I only knew her for 2 days. When I came in at a different working area where she and some other women were at, she just said "You sure don't say a lot, do you?" What did she mean by that? Of course I'm quiet but why would she say that? Why out of the blue? It sounded like she had it on her mind all day or something.

Answer:
It could mean that she's interested in you. You know you're quiet, so what she said is probably true. I think she may have used it as a way to break the ice -- to start a conversation, perhaps in a light-hearted teasing way. If you're interested in her, the next time you see her, you could ask her (with a smile) if it bothers her that you don't say a lot. Who knows, it could be the start of a good thing.
