Why are my parents so overprotective?

  • i'm a 16 yr .old girl, only child. i wonder why my parents don't realize that i'm old enough to be treated like a child because they treat me like the way they treated me when i was a little girl. they are overprotective,no sleep overs allowed, going out with friends is limited, they always ask who i am texting or talking to the phone, the monitor me and send me a numerous messages when i am not home. first of all i am a Christian and i fear God so i know what i am doing, second they raised me in good morals so what are they afraid of? i need wise answers

    Girls your age are very impressionable. They are scared something will happen to you and since you are an only child this hightens their fears. Watch dateline to catch a predator and then ask this question again. I know you say you have good morals and a good family home but so do a lot of girls that get caught up in bad situations. They just want to keep you safe.
