Entry & Storm Door Installation?

  • I'm planning to order a front entry door and a storm door from Lowe's. I'm just questioning the installation cost. I was told that it's $269.00 for the door installation and $97.00 for the storm door for a total of $366.00. I was thinking of doing my side door too including a new storm door but they are telling me that it's an additional $366.00 for the side door too. The total just for installing is $732.00 which sounds like a lot to me...what do you all think? I think I may just get a contractor to do it for me. Thanks!

    It's easy. Be brave and be patient you will be surprise at what you can do. Most come with pretty good instructions and all the trim you need.

Way too high! Get three bids and hire your own contractor.

That is pretty expensive and I would do the installation myself. If you install a prehung door it is incredibly easy with a minimum of tools, especially if you use Quick Door Hanger Clips. I recently used these to literally hang an exterior door in 10 minutes (after removing the old one).

If you think that's expensive, wait until they find that the opening is not perfect or the sill needs replacing. Then you're really screwed.
