If police aren't racist , why is the prison system making money if there are more people in prison?

Nobody commits crime in China because they have a strike system and if you finish it you get executed. In America the ones in prison can't get a decent job usually because they messed up in school for whatever reason. Then the only way to make decent money is crime. Otherwise they have to live on food stamps while struggling to get a crappy cleaner, mc donalds job or something then save forever and return to education again to get a better job.

the simple solution Professor is stop committing crimes,your acting like criminals shouldn't even be punished @ASKER-of course China has less prisoners,its a communist country where things (bare necessities)are given to the masses,and if they do commit crime they face even tougher time then here in the states,so that in its self is a deterrent @ASKER-why then are there so many blacks who commit no crimes?? answer that!!

That isn't really how the criminal justice system works, at least as far as the state/federal prison systems work; they certainly don't get more money per inmate incarcerated. In fact, they would love it if inmate populations were reduced, as it represents a significant strain on limited resources (which again do not increase per inmate incarcerated). Unless you've been to a state/federal prison and seen the basketball gyms filled to capacity with overflow inmates, you should avoid discussing this as if you're an expert, rather than some guy with a skewed opinion based on random internet searches.

i think this is a problem that starts long before a person makes it into the criminal justice system. yes blacks and hispanics are over represented in the corrections system but i think this has more to do with problems in the education and employment system. i think at the end it all comes full circle with a large majority of minorities having a felony conviction...thus not being able to get a good job to support their families...thus being poor...thus living in a low income school district...and the cycle starts all over again. i think a lot of these issues could be solved if hiring practices were different. even after a person is released from prison and serves their time they are still stigmatized for the rest of their lives by society. it is extraordinarily difficult for ex offender to get decent jobs, and even getting an apartment is difficult. it's completely ridiculous. the EEOC just passed new guidelines restricting background checks and i think that is fabulous. i hope that it will allow more ex-offenders to be productive. most offenders want to be productive upon release but unfortunately society instead of allowing that to happen continues to shun them after release by not employing them which is just asking for trouble.

the prisons are funded my the government, you pay tax to the government, you pay for prison. go i hate hippies like you who blame the state for everything, oh and in Britain if a minority commits an offence they walk away free
