What are the best jobs in writing?

I am writing a book and I need to know what kind of jobs did people have back in time?

• I'm writing a book and I am needing to know what kind of jobs people had back in the OLD, OLD days. Like back when they had tribes and things. Any idea?? I thought about mining but it doesn't really go with story.. PLEASE REPLY!! I really need answers! :(

  Well, there weren't really "jobs" back in the tribal days. There were "things that need to be done" and people did them. A man may be a hunter for three days, a farmer for one, a fisher the next, help thatch a roof the day after that, and then spend a weekend being a warrior fighting against another tribe. "Jobs" as we know them didn't arise until after the advent of agriculture. When people were nomadic and hunter/gatherer types, they may have ha da specialty, but everyone did a little of everything. After mankind invented farming, them people could settle into one spot and one person (or group of persons) could grow more food than they alone could eat. That allowed others to focus on other skills (tanning, sewing, mining, priesthood, etc) and then "trade" their skills or goods with those who had excess food. If your tribe is post hunter/gatherer and has agriculture and farming, then the jobs still focused on basic survival and a few other things--hunting, fishing, clothes-making, religious leadership, warfare, farming, weapon smithing, shepherding livestock, etc. If they are in peaceful contact with other tribes, then new job opportunities begin to arise like trading.
