How do I calculate reaction free energy?

How do I calculate the free energy for this reaction?

  • C3H8 +5O2 yields 3CO2 + 4H2O The kJ/Mole (delta G) is: C3H8: -24.27 CO2: -394.36 H2O: -237.2 O2: Also: Why isn't there a G value for O2?

  • Answer:

    Gibbs Free Energy can be calculated using deltaG = G products - G reactants So, deltaG= [3(-394.36) + 4(-237.2)] - [(-24.27) + 5(0)] There is no G value for O2 because it is in it's elemental state.
