Physics Final Project. Help On Deciding?

  • For our Honors Physics class, we have to do a final project, where we teach the class about a topic we choose, that relates to physics in some way. For example, people have done the physics behind baseball, the doppler effect, general relativity, etc. I love science and physics in general, and there are so many different topics that I want to research and share. Obviously, I can only pick one, so I'm having trouble figuring out which one I want to commit to. My presentation must be 8-10 minutes long. Here are the topics, that I have narrowed it down to. Topic- M Theory Topic- Black Holes Topic- Big Bang Theory/Start of Universe Theory Topic- Time Travel/Wormholes Topic- Large Hadron Collider Topic- Bose-Einstien Condensates Topic- Physics Behind Aircrafts Please either rank them from best to worst, or give me what you think is best! Thank You!

    Just a thought. How about the physics of the GPS system as a topic? It involves complex triangulation and time corrections for both special and general relativity. These corrections are very complex and have to take into account the nonuniform gravitational field of the earth (requires a multipole expansion) and the speed of the GPS satellites. Without these timing corrections, the GPS system would be useless.

I've always liked reading about Black Holes. They are so strong even light can't escape but we can't prove they exists due to this fact. My next topic would be the Big Bang. The name started out as a joke but actually suck. Just my 2 cents.

Phyics behind aircraft...will freak them out. the only thing keeping them up is that the surface area below the wing is bigger than above..therfore more air pressure. you can talk about jets that are not aero dynamic at low speeds. everyone can relate to planes...we all seen them and all been on them.

Impress them with something hard instead of this 4th grade level foolishness. Think outside of your grade and give them something from High School instead of this nonsense. You might as well build a volcano as a joke.
