Distance learning for International Students?

STATISTICS PROBLEM: A college finds that 8% of students have taken a distance learning class and that 20%.....?

  • A college finds that 8% of students have taken a distance learning class and that 20% of students are part-time students. Of the part-time students, 20% have taken a distance learning class. Let D = event that a student takes a distance learning class and E = event that a student is a part-time student. Find P(E I D) Find P(D or E) P(D and E)= 0.0400 Im having so much trouble with this problem, please help :)

  • Answer:

P(D)=0.08 20% of 20% is 1/5 of 20 or 0.04 or 4% are aprt time AND took a D class So the probability that a part time student took a distance class is 4% or 0.04 as you have said I'll be back. What is EID? Well I know the answer to P(D or E) is 27.2% but I can't tell you how to get there. Help me. What I did was work with a real number:250 80% or 200 are full time 20% or 50 are part time 4% of 50=2 (0.8%)are part time and distance learners That makes 18 (7.2%)full time and distance 182 (72.8%) are full time only. 48 (19.2%) are part time only
