Is the london 2012 olympic logo copyright protected?

You wouldn't be able to use it on formal company documents without having gained contractual agreements for some kind of association from the organisers. I'm sure that nobody will object to you making reference to it in your school coursework though, as long as it's not for commercial gain. By the way, have you noticed that the Union Jack version of the logo is never used by a commercial company, apart from those selling the official products, and then only on those products themselves or on images of those products. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Flag Versions of the Union Jack itself (partly a naval term - see link above) are being widely used as you'd expect, as well as the shape of the logo in many different colour versions. However even the likes of Coca-Cola (5 rings plus Union Jack in a circle) and P&G (5 rings plus Team GB 2012 colours) are holding back on putting the 2 together, and respecting the rights of the British people to determine a meaning for this combination, and then claim it for themselves.
