How much should I budget for a trip to London?

How much would a 2-week trip be to London and Paris?

  • I want to take a trip to London and Paris from Dec. 20-January 4. I will be going with my husband & 11-year old son. We want to see some sights and stay at budget to mid level hotels. I want to start saving but I'm haven't traveled aboard before so I am not sure how much to save.

    How much you'll need will vary hugely, and depend on you. Hotels in either city can be expensive. Eating out costs are up to you. Visiting sites etc can be expensive depending on what you want to see/do - eg you have to pay to go up the Eiffel tower. Might be worth getting a guide book to see what you want to do, and get an idea of how much it'll cost. If you're up for a train journey, Eurostar is a really easy way to travel between them (you go straight to and from the centre of each city, and if you book a specific timed train in advance it can cost less than £100pp, even less for a child. It takes a few hours, but is easier than flying (check-in etc is far quicker, and there's no travelling to airports)

Well Paris is not a too expensive city Catherine and I stayed five days and with an air trip from Italy spent around 700 euros, about $1000. Of cuorse dining at the Procope, or le Café Flore was 100€, and so on. London is more expensive, or it was years ago. let say that you must have une thausand for every city plus the airfare

Eurostar above has pre booked returns from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord for £69 and the journey takes 2 hours 15 minutes. They also do good value for money rail/hotel packages www.eurostar.com You have not chosen the best time of year. The days are short and the weather not great. Also many attractions and restaurants in London close on Christmas Day and the 26th December and there is no there is no public transportation on Christmas Day May, June and September are great times to visit
