How to grow black hair when your in high school?

• I'm in high school and i want to grow my hair out naturally. Ive tried perms 3 times but every time it broke off even when i took good care of it. I have thin short hair that has been damaged from previous perms and texturizers but its always broke off after at most 6 months of having it. My hairdresser said my hair wasn't strong enough to have any chemicals in my hair so she said i can either have weaves or grow it out natural. I decided that i didn't want to have a weave (right now i have braid extensions) so the only other option is to grow it out natural, the problem is that if i grew it out my hairdresser said id have to have it in some kind of protective style but my hair is so short that my natural hair braided doesn't look good but if i flat iron it everyday im afraid that it ll break off more or wont grow. In the past i flat ironed it but it ended up poofing up before the school day was even over and i didn't want that to happen because i didn't really have a way of fixing it at school. I don't really know what i should do my freshman year is almost over and next school year i want to have pretty hair instead of these braid extensions. I know its not realistic but id really like natural hair down to my waist, im pretty sure its almost impossible to get that because i have very thin short hair. Also in addition i was wondering if someone could tell me their daily hair care routine for having their hair natural ( especially if you flat iron it often). THANKS SO MUCH :)
