Where can I buy a chain breaker?

I need to take a link off a chain?

  • i need it done today cause i'm going to the track and i would just buy a chain breaker but its sunday and the shops are closed

  • Answer:

undo the joining link... use a couple of screw drivers & a hammer to lever the outside plate off the link.. OR use an angle grinder to grind the pins down on the link... then refit with the joining link.. but why does it need shortening??? if its that worn that there is no adjustment left... buy a new chain..

If this is a chain you've been using and it has "gotten too long", that means the chain is shot and all taking a link out will do is gain a few thousand miles but ruin the sprockets in the process.

Unhook the master link. Grind or cut off one link. Rehook the master link.
