How can I stop my Verizon DVR from recording HD programs?

I have my DVR set to record Law and Order First-Run and Repeats on all channels because many different channels show this show. However when it's recording a marathon on USA it records half of them on USA HD [which I do not have]. Is there any way to stop this?
