Intel used to be the best but now that AMD have introduced the new bull dozer with 8 cores i think AMD is in the lead but intel have better quality proccesors if you look underneath a intel processor it has gold metals corresponders but if you look under a AMD they are not as good quality

0-300$ range AMD is better hands down $300+ range Intel pretty much dominates this area If you work for a big company and need ultra super fast hyperthreading the 8 core processor with AMD is better. AMD also has its own video card lineup ( radeon HD's ) and those are pretty nice.

Nothing to even compare,really. Sandy Bridge destroys every Bulldozer CPU on every benchmark.
