What do I need to do to switch to digital TV?

For the uk - no tv since digital switch over..what do i need to do?

  • i live in a rented house in the uk and the landlord is very unhelpful when it comes to upkeep and repairs so its not surprising that when the digital switchover happened, i was left without tv. the tenancy agreement doesnt specify who is responsible for the aerials and i have no idea what im doing... i have freeview built in to my tv but it doesnt pick up anything. is there a kind of indoor aerial i could use to pick up digital tv? or is there any kind of help scheme to help tenants out? thanks!

    It's doubt-full if an indoor aerial will help. Go to CAB and explain your problem they will at least advise you on the matter.

In my experience the tenant is responsible for the function of the aerial unless it causes damage to the building in which case it would revert to the landlord's insurance. I moved into a rental house and it cost me £80 with a local TV installation company to get the aerial sorted (it was pointing towards Australia but otherwise electrically OK). As far as I'm aware unless you are in a block of flats with a shared aerial system there's no scheme to help out tenants of individual properties.

why you do not want to use a dish ? better tv reception is possible when receiver antenna locates in the line of sight of tv tower. if you have a window in this path you have a chance for indoor antenna. you know you should be on upper floors for being in LOS path. if you do not have a LOS path you should install a uhf antenna on the roof.

1. Go into the 'Settings' section of your TV. 2. Go to 'retune' or 'scan for new channels' or something that seems like that, and select that option. 3. Your TV should retune and pick up all the channels you had before.
