Why does my 2005 Ford Taurus get 16 MPG?
-
I have a 2005 Ford Taurus 3.0L V6 with 136,000 miles. I get around 15 MPG city and around 17 MPG highway. Is their a reason my gas mileage is so low? The car has no problems that I am aware of. Thanks.

Answer:
The O2 sensors are a primary suspect when mileage gets worse. The fuel filter or a dying fuel pump are also something to look at since if you have low fuel pressure then you will get poor mileage. Of course, it could be a number of things including another sensor or fuel, ignition, or emissions component. Put a code scanner on it and see if is throwing off any codes.
