who are the "palestinians" ? where did they come from ? Hamas Minister of the Interior and of National Security "Fathi Hammad" Says: "Half of the Palestinians Are Egyptians decent and the Other Half Are Saudis" blogs(dot)news(dot)com(dot)au/heraldsu… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3-GBsGmE54 "Allah be praised, we all have Arab roots, and every "Palestinian", in Gaza and throughout Palestine, can prove his Arab roots - whether from Saudi Arabia, from Yemen, or anywhere. we all can prove our origin. So where is your affection and mercy? [...] Personally, half my family is Egyptian. We are all like that. More than 30 families in the Gaza Strip are called Al-Masri ["Egyptian"]. Brothers !, half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis ! ! !. Who are the ""Palestinians"" ?? We have many families called Al-Masri, whose roots are Egyptian. Egyptian! They may be from Alexandria, from Cairo, from Dumietta, from the North, from Aswan, from Upper Egypt. We are Egyptians !. We are Arabs !. We are Muslims !. We are a part of you. Allah Akbar. All praise to Allah. Allah Akbar. How can you keep silent, oh Muslims, when the people of Gaza are dying? You watch from the sidelines without providing them with the simplest thing (fuel), which you (arab countries) give to the West for the most meager price "Palaestina ex monumentis veteribus illustrata" - a detailed geographical survey of Palestine in 1696 written in Latin by Adriaan Reland published by Willem Broedelet, Utrecht, in 1714. Residents of the REGION mainly concentrated in cities: Jerusalem, Acre, Safed, Jaffa, Tiberias and Gaza. In most cities, the majority of residents are Christians, Jews and others, very few Muslims who generally are Bedouin, seasonal workers who came to serve as Seasonal workers in agriculture or building. Nablus: 120 muslims, 70 Samaritans Nazareth: 700 people - all Christians Umm al-Fahm: 50 people-10 families, ALL Christian Gaza: 550 people- 300 Jews,250 Christian(Jews engaged in agriculture ,Christians deal with the trading and transporting the products) Tiberias: 300 residents, all Jews. Safed: about 200 inhabitants, all Jews Jerusalem :5000 people, most of them (3,500) Jews, the rest - Christian (1000) Muslim (500) note* (no muslims in gaza) ! -Professor Azmi Bishara(Arabic: عزمي بشارة)-- a "palestinian arab" "There is no "palestinian nation" ! when were there any Palestinians??? LOL until the end of the 19th century, Palestine was the south of "Greater Syria" another resent invention. there is only an arab nation ! the word "palestine" its self is a colonial invention used by the romans in order to erase the jewish identity of judea and israel. even the "Palestinian National Charter" recognizes all the jews living in the region prior to the 1948 war as "palestinians" ! its an intellectual fad, divorced from the concerns of uneducated people" for more information please google "Old Yishuv

Nice of you to post your argument for Israelis who are always in DENIAL section, you brought your BULL in this category so one can receive as many thumbs-down for stating facts as possible.... Look ROMAN CONQUERS maps were nice enough to admit the name (Palestine) and even the BRITISH EMPIRE call the land Palestine... Now the Europeans for example took Red Indian land are we gonna say today they never existed? Remember this Funny thing 21st CENTURY MAPS might say PALESTINE CEASES to Exist but ROMAN and BRITISH MAPS say they existed..... Joel 3:1-4 (King James Version) PROVES it existed and EVEN book דעת מקרא sings a KINGDOM the PLASHET, PLESHET, PLISHITIM all meaning PALESTINE.... The JEWS will be FOREVER like ABRAHAM buying PLOT OF LAND not owning it...Acts 7:16
It is spelt Really and not realy, dumbf*ck.

Fathi Hammad is not a historian. He is a politician who was obviously after the Egyptian gas. Almasri surname suggests intermarriage and not necessarily Immigration. But maybe you can explain how can the most popular Palestinian surnames (and not some 30 families) like Gazawi, Khalili, Akkawi, Nabulsi...and the list of surnames after Palestinian cities is too long, be from Saudi, Egypt or any other country in the world? It is your own logic that proves you wrong my friend. Or maybe you can give us a date or event when Arab immigrants from Saudi and Egypt massively immigrated to Palestine and replaced the original inhabitants? Or explain how come Palestinian culture and dialect is unique and different? How can immigrants form unique identity in such short period of time? How come Palestinian Arabs owned the vast majority of lands, while Jews owned no more than 7% if they are immigrants "came to work for Jews"? Don't you see how ridiculous your propaganda sounds? According to official Ottoman statistics there were at least 3500 person in Palestine in the 19th century of whom only 2% were Jews (Source: McCarthy, Rabinovich and others). So you picked up the lowest estimation and decided to use it as fact, while the contrary is true. Because those who studied Ottoman documents found registration data of 350,000 person. If they didn't exist, how did they find records about them? When Azmi Bshara says there was no Palestinian nation or Palestinian people, he means that Palestinian National Identity is of recent origin (like all national identities that started after the WWI and lead to the creation of modern European countries). He doesn't say Palestinians are Arab immigrants. All British official reports; the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry, the Hope Simpson report, the Passfield White Paper, the Peel Commission report, and the Survey of Palestine concluded that Arab population growth was natural and not affected by any mass immigration. According to the British Census of 1931, 98% of Muslim Arabs were born in Palestine. Before that, Demographer Uziel Schmelz, examined the Ottoman registration data for 1905 populations of Jerusalem and Hebron, and found out that 98% of Arab Muslim population there were born in Palestine. So why aren't there any official records of such immigration (Ottoman or British)? Why do you quote others but forget your own grandfathers, the first Zionist and Israeli leaders. As early as 1882 Ben-Yehuda and Yehiel Michal Pines, Zionist pioneers in Palestine, talked about 500,000 Arabs living in Palestine. Ahad Ha'am, the founder of cultural Zionism, visited Palestine in 1891 and described it as Arab developed land, where Arab natives left almost no fields uncultivated. The founder of Israel David Ben Gorion, spoke about Arab farmers as descendants of ancient Hebrews. Michael Bar-Zohar, Ben-Gurion's official biographer, said that Palestine was not an empty land, and the Jews were only a small minority of its population. Arthur Ruppin the founder of the Bit Shalom Kibbutz movement, said that in Palestine there were hardly any more arable unsettled lands in 1913. BTW, If Palestine is not Arab word it only proves that Muslims did not change the names of territories they conquered. That is a point in their favour. They also didn't change the demographics. Palestine's native population converted to Islam and adopted Arabic culture

What a lot of negative responders! The truth hurts. But it's still true. When Samuel Clemens visited "Palestine" in 1867, he found it a desolate country, nearly empty of people. The "Palestinians" want it only now, because the Israeli's, the "Zionists", have made it valuable.

um...not every single country name in English is pronounced the same in Arabic example: Egypt, in Arabic you will say is Misr in Arabic we say فلسطين which is pronunced "filsteen" true....Arabs who are not taught English can't say 'p' in Arabic you would say Christians as مسيحيين and you would say it meseheen Jews ياهود and said yahood Greece in Arabic would be يونان and said unan (i guess) he word Israel in Arabic means the worshipers of God :S @Esther, you do know that countries adopt names, right...and what i trying to say is that English is not the same as Arabic, words are different even if they are country names t
